The Asbolute BEST Engagement Party EVER!

I’ve been meaning to update this for a while now, but Nick and I have been just a tad bit busy moving and dealing with the military!

We are now in Stuttgart, Germany and are in the slow but steady process of getting settled into this new place we call home. It hasn’t been easy by any means, so we are just happy the PCS process is on its way to being done!

Thankfully we were able to spend some time in California before we left the country. There were many highlights to the trip, but the biggest was our amazing Engagement Party!!! It turned out better than we ever could have thought, and it was in great part to our talented friends and family.

Nick and I each came up with a Top 5 of party highlights and wanted to share them with you all. So here they are!

Nick’s Top Five:
1. The FOOD! Catering by La Taquiza, cupcakes by Manny, Lumpia by Auntie Carmen, all side dishes and treats made by our family and friends.
2. The lighting
3. Kristine’s speech
4. The 7 piece Mariachi Band
5. My grandpa who came looking like The Godfather

Kristine’s Top Five (counting down to #1):
5. The bar area. So cutely placed.
4. Bridesmaids Horchata Toast!
3. Seeing all of our friends and family, especially the ones we haven’t seen in a long time.
2. The whole ambiance of the backyard…the lights, my mom's garden, the tables, the centerpieces. Absolute perfection!
...and lastly...
1. Reveling in the overall fabulousness and beauty of our friends and family.

The event was made even more memorable by our good friend and photographer Oliver Asis whose artistic eye captured so many candid moments. A big part of our wedding is asking friends and family to help out in every way possible, rather than just hiring vendors who look at us just a client. Thankfully we had Oliver, a good family friend who we have known for years and who I went to school with, to take some amazing photos. (Click the link to view the photos on my Facebook page!)

We also had my cousin Manny make some truly original cup cakes that matched our theme perfectly. When I told him our menu was Mexican themed, he gave me an idea of desserts that would match, some of which he had never made before. We decided on Tres Leches cupcakes and some cheesecake cupcakes. All of which were an absolute hit!

I could go on saying how much we loved our party, but I’m sure I would bore you after a while. So instead, I leave you with a video montage of our beloved engagement celebration. Enjoy!
